Her hammock gently swayed between the branches, hugging her comfortingly and joyously. Delightfully different from her free legs, which were revelling in the playful breeze. Watching, listening, smelling - taking it all in and sensing the warm friendliness of the wilderness.⁠

Mother Nature knows how to charm - doesn’t she. My hope is that in years to come those free legs will climb everything from trees to mountains. Seeing the magnificent sights of our wondrous natural world. Because that wondrous natural world will still be there, maybe even more wondrous than before... if she is given the chance to be wooed in childhood.”⁠

‘Ok, I’ll just…’ . ‘… make a quick lun

‘Ok, I’ll just…’

‘… make a quick lunch for us all, then I’ll get back to do some work’.
.
So many times I have thought this, but in reality I will also mow the lawn, hang a wash out, play a quick game of ‘Guess Who’ or ‘Draughts’ (mine are loving board games at the moment!). Then I will sit back down to work.
.
I get distracted so easily and it has become super easy to lose focus with my children around. My head is so full of ideas that I need to work through. I get little pockets of time here and there where I can complete commissions but the thing I’m missing the most is time for head space. Time where I can clearly define what I need to do with my own ideas and projects. I know that that time is looming and will be here before I know it - when my children return to school. I will certainly miss them and long for the time that has been, but I will also relish the chance to just work on my illustrations… nothing else… just my illustrations.

And then I continue with my thoughts and think, ‘Oh we haven’t really done much with all our time together!’ But we have.
.
I looked through photos from during lockdown and realised we have had some really very special moments together. Maybe we didn’t go here or go there - even when we could. But I have oodles of photos on my phone that tell me we have made some lovely memories. This being one from back in May. A photo I din’t realise my daughter had taken.
.
So much quality time together, in our beautiful home, in the beautiful outdoors and all with my beautiful human beings - or ‘human doings!’*
.
