‘Ok, I’ll just…’ . ‘… make a quick lun

‘Ok, I’ll just…’

‘… make a quick lunch for us all, then I’ll get back to do some work’.
.
So many times I have thought this, but in reality I will also mow the lawn, hang a wash out, play a quick game of ‘Guess Who’ or ‘Draughts’ (mine are loving board games at the moment!). Then I will sit back down to work.
.
I get distracted so easily and it has become super easy to lose focus with my children around. My head is so full of ideas that I need to work through. I get little pockets of time here and there where I can complete commissions but the thing I’m missing the most is time for head space. Time where I can clearly define what I need to do with my own ideas and projects. I know that that time is looming and will be here before I know it - when my children return to school. I will certainly miss them and long for the time that has been, but I will also relish the chance to just work on my illustrations… nothing else… just my illustrations.

And then I continue with my thoughts and think, ‘Oh we haven’t really done much with all our time together!’ But we have.
.
I looked through photos from during lockdown and realised we have had some really very special moments together. Maybe we didn’t go here or go there - even when we could. But I have oodles of photos on my phone that tell me we have made some lovely memories. This being one from back in May. A photo I din’t realise my daughter had taken.
.
So much quality time together, in our beautiful home, in the beautiful outdoors and all with my beautiful human beings - or ‘human doings!’*

Happy house plants! . Our house is full of plants,

Happy house plants!

Our house is full of plants, they are my other babies. Does anyone else feel the same? I grew up with lots of plants that my mum had, and from a young age I had plants in my bedroom that were all my own!
.
Recently I treated most of the plants I have now to a spa treatment outside. Making the most of the lovely weather we had. They got repotted and leaves dusted and cleaned. ‘Ahhhhhh…’ they all said! I keep going round them all now and rejoicing in my hard work :-)
.
Apart from making a room look fabulous, house plants actually make our indoor living spaces healthier - physically and mentally healthier. I love that fact.
.
It is funny that I should post this today, as I have just reworked a commission which needed more plants added into the drawing. It looks a lot better for it!
